Carl & Ruth Knott,
Carl & Ruth Knott,

The world is once again disturbed by wars (Ukraine, Iran, Pakistan- Afghanistan, Sudan) and rumors of wars (China-Taiwan). Of course, there will be no real peace until the Prince of Peace comes and is given His rightful place. "The way of peace they know not" (Isa. 59.8), and "There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked" (Isa. 57.21). We're reminded to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psa. 122.6). And we who know the Lord rejoice to have the peace that comes with salvation (Rom. 5.1).

But Spain remains occupied with holidays, and there are a lot of them. For example, next comes Easter week (Semana Santa), with all the idol processions day and night, attended by huge crowds. Two weeks later, in mid-April, is the Seville Fair (Feria de Sevilla) that lasts a week. They use the grounds where, in Inquisition times, they burned people at the stake! Then May 1st is a national holiday. Sunday, May 17th, is a local holiday in honor of San Isidro, and folks head to a park for idol processions and spend the day eating and drinking. May 22-27 is the fiesta in honor of the "Virgen of Rocio", who has thousands of devotees, and the homosexuals consider her their patron too, so you can imagine what that's like. It seems that Spain has more holidays than other European countries.

Much prayer is needed for the gospel to reach the lost, many of whom live without concern for their immortal souls.

We very much appreciate your prayers as we continue serving in our 40th year in Spain. Currently, in addition to Christian books, we've found a local printer who will print gospel tracts for us, so we hope to have several new ones soon. Otherwise, in the literature, we've been able to translate H. A. Ironside's book The Great Parenthesis. Except Ye Repent (in Spanish), and they're now available in Spanish for the first time! As we send it out to brethren in different areas, we pray the Lord will use it to edify and strengthen believers.

We also have a new gospel booklet by a Spaniard, Domingo Fernández, who was saved as a young man in Cuba and went on to serve there for many years. The title, translated, would be: "If You're Mistaken You'll Regret It Eternally". Thanks for your prayers for this important work, and do keep praying! We now have 117 titles in print, by the grace of God.

Carl was in Chile for ministry during January. It is encouraging to see how the Lord is working in the assemblies there. Pray for a new work beginning on the Isle of Chiloé, in southern Chile, under the direction of Camilo Vásquez.

Ruth is now dealing with high blood pressure, and after trying everything else to bring it down (diet, exercise, etc.), she has finally had to begin taking medication.  We're grateful for health and strength to serve the Master, and remember the hymn: "Bye and bye when I look on His face, I'll wish I had given him more.”
