This year marks nineteen years since the Lord called me into full-time service in April 2007. At that time, I was serving in the Curriculum Development Center of the Ministry of Education in Putrajaya. As the burden for the Lord’s work increased, a moment of decision came when a leadership position was offered to me within the Ministry. It became clear that the Lord’s call to labor in the gospel was greater, and after fellowship with brethren, I resigned and was commended to the Lord’s work together with my wife, Susan.

Since then, the Lord has graciously opened many doors for preaching the gospel, teaching the Word of God, and encouraging believers both in Malaysia and abroad. We remain very grateful for the prayers and fellowship of many assemblies and believers who remember the work here.

Much of the work here includes:

  • Bible teaching and discipleship

  • Gospel outreach among students and young adults.

  • Visits to other towns and interior regions.

  • Encouraging believers in different parts of Sarawak

Ministry Across Sarawak

Over the years, the Lord has opened doors in many different locations across Sarawak through former students, Christian teachers, and personal contacts. Occasions in public schools require appropriate conduct and sensitivity, and we are thankful for sustained access.

Earlier in the year, our “Aquila & Priscilla” couple in the assembly, who are school teachers, became burdened about several inner-city schools where students had been quietly gathering each evening for prayer, singing, and Bible reading. After prayerful consideration, one school was selected for an initial visit: the one with the highest dropout rate in the nation.

Through our brother’s previous contacts, a team of 18 people was brought together for the effort, including 6 from our assembly. Over the entire trip, we saw how the Lord had moved each of them through exercise for this mission. We first flew to the coastal town of Miri and, from there, traveled by four-wheel-drive vehicles into the interior. After several hours on sealed roads, the journey gave way to winding logging tracks and rugged terrain before finally bringing us to the school. We prayed for good weather, but the drivers wanted bad weather for more excitement and adventure!

The daytime activities focused on an English reading program for students struggling with literacy, together with educational activities and workshops. Around 350 students participated in these sessions. We are indebted to our member, a distinguished retired teacher, for sponsoring the program.

In the evenings, students gathered to hear messages concerning the Lord Jesus Christ. On both nights, the response was overwhelming. The preaching was in the National language: Malay. Instead of the expected number, the entire school - around 500 students - attended the meetings, filling the halls to hear the message of the gospel. Many students professed faith, approached us afterward to request prayers, and asked how they could continue learning from the Scriptures,

The need in these interior regions is very great, and we are praying that the Lord will enable further visits in 2026 as we plan to widen our reach to Christian teachers and student leaders from five more schools.

Another joyful occasion during this same week was the baptism of our sister Ruthann. The baptism took place in a riverside setting and was followed by a picnic together, making it a memorable and encouraging day for the assembly.

Please pray for: ✓ open doors for the Gospel ✓ Wisdom in guiding teachers and students in Bible studies ✓Opportunities to revisit interior schools ✓ Spiritual growth of the assembly in Kuching ✓ That the Lord would raise up more labourers in this region
