I am very thankful to be back amongst the people I know and love. It will soon be forty-six years since coming to Zambia. There have been changes - not all good but we are very thankful that the main road is paved to within twenty kms. One thing that never changes is the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, although there are many false teachers seeking to deceive and teach what is not in the Bible.
There was a sad funeral here when our beloved brother, Gershom, was laid to rest, awaiting the resurrection morn. He was a young man who helped with the maintenance work and, more important, was always there to go on the Gospel outreaches with the brethren. He had an enlarged spleen and spells of bleeding when he would have to have several units of blood. This time, when he bled, in spite of giving him six units of blood, he went to be with the Lord. His young wife and four children are left - please pray for them. She was crying as we tried to get the bleeding stopped and he turned and said to her, "Don't cry, I am well." He had no fear of death and had a good testimony. Many were at the funeral and heard an excellent Gospel message.
This is the season when the rivers are full of water and the crocodiles are most to be feared. Last week a young woman, washing clothes by the river bank with her seven-year-old boy beside her, turned to put down the clothes and a crocodile seized the child. She tried to pull him away but it took a huge bite out of her leg and disappeared with the boy. They never found him and she was brought to hospital to be treated. She will be in the hospital for a long time as the wound was deep. Pray that this tragedy will bring her to the Savior.
The Luvale bible revision team is here for three weeks. Pray that they will have the wisdom to make the necessary changes in the translation
