El Salvador

We had some very sad days here after the sudden death of Corina Saward. I was able to spend the night in the hospital supporting Craig and family during the unforgettable experience of seeing her go down so quickly. She was just 50.

We had some strong shakes here in the city several weeks ago, and it did a lot of damage to the main road out of the city which I use to go to Ateos. Driving on the alternate road has meant there are many long lines of traffic. It is a challenge for some to see how many vehicles can fit in the two lanes, so we all wait while they squeeze in when their space runs out! Thank you for your prayers for our safety.

This month has been rewarding helping with medical needs and seeing how the Lord still uses the contacts that I have made over the years. An 11-year-old was sent home from the public children's hospital with a bad break in her arm but a cast on it. They said they wouldn't operate. After a visit to my orthopedic friend and surgery, she will now have the use of her arm for the rest of her life. The parents paid with insurance, but they needed my contact! Hospital visits have brought encouragement to an older lady who is from a country area. My co-worker has been a young man who has graduated with an engineering degree but is waiting on work. It has been a thrill to see his response as he realizes how the Lord can use him in different areas.

Our Thursday afternoon class with the little children is going well. It is lovely seeing the happiness that the older ladies get from participating. On the first day when one of our ladies walked the children back to their homes, she was thrilled with their enthusiasm. She told them she would meet them next week. One said that they could come tomorrow and another assured her they could come every day! A good number of teenagers are attending the Saturday morning class which is also exciting to see. Recently after the classes with the different ages in the morning, the young teens stayed for lunch and prepared a program for their mothers in the afternoon. It is a good opportunity for the Lord to use us to touch their lives with His love. I am enjoying contacts with different ones who used to be with us. It reminds me that the Seed has been sown over the years.
