It was eight years ago today (May 4th 2004), that we arrived to this beautiful Mexican city, where we were met by three new believers, a few unsaved adults with a hunger for the word of God, and fewer than a dozen children who attended the rented hall located at Privada de la Llave, in the subdivision called Cerro de la Cruz.

Now, by the goodness of God, we are located in an area called Valle de la Madrid, where twenty believers gather to celebrate the Lord's Supper.

We enjoyed a visit by our beloved brother, Harrys Rodriguez. For two days he gave ministry and another day he preached the gospel to the children at El Porvenir where we have a small hall which is used for gospel preaching on Wednesdays and a Bible class on Sundays.

We had eight weeks of gospel meetings in Valle de la Madrid. Even though the attendance of unbelievers was not good, it was encouraging to have excellent support by the believers. In the end, three women professed faith in Christ.

This week I signed a new contract with the radio station to transmit the message of salvation each Thursday at 9:30 a.m. For now it will only be over the internet till permission is issued to use the FM frequency. I will include a list of specific items as you keep us in mind in your prayers, that:

  1. The assembly will continue to grow and that the Lord will save and raise up men with a shepherd heart, willing to work as overseers in the assembly.

  2. The present gospel meetings will yield fruit in salvation.

  3. The Lord will guide as far as the outreach we have on Wednesday and Friday evenings in a poor area - El Porvenir.

The current situation in the state of Chihuahua, and Mexico in general, is another great reason for prayer. Chihuahua is one of thirty-one states that, together with the Federal District, forms thirty-two federative entities of the United States of Mexico. It has been described as the most violent state in the country and its territory is disputed by three drug cartels: the Cartel of the Gulf, the Cartel of Juarez and the Cartel of Tijuana. The city of Juarez is the most violent city in Mexico and one of the most violent in the world. We know that many of you have been with us in prayer throughout all this time, which helps to explain many things. Thank you very much for your prayers.
