A Return visit to Brazil

We have just returned from Brazil last Friday and still a bit jet-lagged after the journey which included four different planes and an early start from Bom Jesus in the forest at 3:30 am. The family were not too keen for Jean to go this time as she has suffered from Parkinson's for 18 years and each year has taken its toll. She was substituted by our son David and son-in-law Michael McKillen and his son Joel. Although they did not speak the Portuguese language they seemed to enjoy the time abroad. As I have arthritis in the base of my back, I was restricted to the three assemblies in Santarem while Michael and Joel did quite a number of visits into the interior to visit some of the nineteen assemblies with Samuel Davidson. It was great to renew fellowship with the saints there who made us most welcome. After the visit to Santarem, we flew to Manaus (about one hour flight) and from there to Bom Jesus, an interior region roughly about 70 miles into the forest from Santarem, where they had the annual Conference. It was most encouraging as over 200 people were present and many unsaved on each occasion. Two young people professed faith in the Lord Jesus and a woman who had backslidden was restored. Jean could never have made it as we had to cross two rivers on a barge the river Negro and Solimoes the journey took about 3 hours but it was all very worth while to see the Lord's hand in blessing, also the heat was rather trying 38 degrees and the humidity high. It was good to be home again into my own bed quite a change from the hammock! While I was away Jean was well looked after by David who had to return after a few days because of his work at Flybe, also by the two girls Sharon and Shirley, she said they spoiled her. Trust this finds you well and enjoying much of the Lord's blessing Autumn 2016 Written by Harry & Jean Reid - Brazil harryjeanbrasil@gmail.com
