Our brother John Short, 75, has been arrested in North Korea.
He was arrested by the public security bureau of North Korea on Sunday and faces fifteen years in jail under the harsh regime of Kim Jong-un, for allegedly distributing religious material.
He has since been questioned in Pyongyang, the North Korean capital and its largest city, about religious pamphlets printed in the Korean language and believed to be in his possession.
He and his wife Karen and their three children, live in Hong Kong. His wife, Karen has told of the family's shock at his situation and their hopes for his safe return. They have been in Asia for forty years serving the Lord.
The man with whom John was travelling was flown back to China, but John was detained. "We are asking the Lord's people to please pray for both John and Karen at this desperate time. Pray too for the Australian Government as they deal with this issue, that they will do the right thing and be a help in getting John freed.
Also pray for other countries in the region which may be able to help.
