On the 16th of November past, it was thirty years since Christine and I joined the work here in the south of Brazil. We have reason, to thank God for His faithfulness to, and to thank the Lord's People for their kindness and prayers over these many years.
During the final weeks of 2017, we tried a series of Gospel Meetings in the home of a brother who is in fellowship in the assembly here in Santa Maria. His wife and mother in law had not been to a meeting in the Gospel Hall for quite some years, but attended almost every night during the five weeks. We had his two ungodly sons in mind, both who have severe drink dependency. Sadly neither showed any interest in attending. Please pray for their salvation. Although this series has ended, we continue to have a Gospel Meeting there each Tuesday evening.

End of year Bible Readings in the Porto Alegre Gospel hall
During the last week of 2017, we joined the other workers for nine Bible Readings, studying the epistles to the Ephesians and to Titus. A rich sense of the Lord's presence was enjoyed and many expressed help from the study of God's word.

Last week, I had the privilege of sharing in the funeral of a lady of 94 years of age. She was saved at meetings Tommy Wright and I had in Santa Cruz do Sul in 1989. None of her relatives are saved, and all showed reverent attention as the Gospel was preached at her funeral. Pray that her good testimony and the word spoken may be used in their awakening and salvation.
The assembly here in Santa Maria recently has been encouraged to receive some young folks into the fellowship of the assembly. Next week, we hope to start two weeks of Bible Readings taking up the Feasts of Jehovah. We trust that the Lord will give help. We long to see these young believers preserved and growing in the things of God.
