We were commended to the grace of God and the work in Mexico by the assembly that meets in Portage la Prairie, MB. First Street Gospel Hall in 1993, now River Road Gospel Hall.
In Guadalajara, we are beginning to feel the heat that will continue through our year's hot season. We look forward to seeing the rainy season start about the middle of next month, which refreshes the country.
The year's first quarter has passed already, and the next quarter is full of differ- ent activities. Zapopan was the distribution center for 130,000 calendars designed by International Bible House. The local assembly delivered 22,000 of them around the hall and among the believers' friends and neighbors. Each year, we receive phone calls from people who had received them previously. We are happy to sow the seed this way since each month has different verses. Sandy Higgins and I shared a series of ministry meetings in Cancun at the beginning of February. This concluded their gospel meeting series, which began on January 1st. It was very encouraging to see people who were contacted sitting and listening to the word of God. One couple who were saved previously; came to the hall for the first time and they continue to pray about where they need to gather. We do pray that they will be willing to obey the Lord in this way. Our recent participation in two significant Spanish conferences has been a remarkable experience. The annual conference in Pachuca, Hidalgo, held on Easter Week- end, was a testament to our faith, with about 150 people in attendance.
Believers from several different states of Mexico were present, and the saints showed good interest in the Bible reading and the ministry. Last week, we learned that a man trusted Christ in the gospel meeting on Sunday night. We thank the Lord for the work He is doing in our day. We attended the Spanish conference in West Phoenix the first weekend of April. It is most encouraging to see what God is doing among Hispanic people in the United States.
