Marcos & Sara Sequera

Dolega means "home of the hummingbird," the smallest bird in the world and with the fastest wing beat (up to ninety strokes per second). The work in this town began among children, whose flapping has brought adults to the Lord. Stories from the past encourage us and at present others are being written which challenge us to pray.

Evelyn is a Catholic lady but her little daughter is bringing her to Sunday school, so now she is more receptive to the gospel message. Omar is a faithful pupil and something similar is happening to his mother and aunt, who profess to be devotees of their religion, but are coming. Another youngster, Maikel, opened the way for Richard, his older brother to attend. His interest is evident and, although the tempter never rests, Richard recognizes his need to be saved. There are under a dozen members in the Dolega assembly and, in biblical language, it has "little strength." The simplicity of these first generation believers is precious. Four of them are indigen-ous Ngobe and constant from the start. One is taking the gospel to his own people in La Comarca, where we have held two encouraging meetings. We will return soon, Lord willing.

Byrne & Lois Foreshew are located five-hundred kilometres from us but visited here last week. He explained the gospel in the city of David, in a marginal neighbourhood of houses crowded together and uncomfortably warm. For eighteen months we have been preaching a simple gospel to a nucleus of listeners and now more unsaved are attending regularly. Two ladies, Angelica and Judith, show special interest. We did not begin with children in David, but in May the vacation bible classes were very encouraging. We hope to repeat this exercise once a week in August.

Javier Quintero lives on the other side of the mountain range in the town of Changinola. He is the only believer in our fellowship, travelling four hours to attend the Lord's supper. He has been preserved in the midst of the denominational confusion there. Telma, his wife, is attentive to the message, when we visit.
