San Felipe, CHILE

One Sunday recently, the San Felipe assembly held an afternoon tea, followed by a testimony meeting. The first brother who spoke had recently come to San Felipe for high school. Both he and his brothers came and never stopped, and soon were attending other meetings of the assembly as well. Eventually all three of them were saved. The speakers made it clear that there was a specific time, when each of them accepted Christ as Saviour. The last one to speak is the son of one of the elders here in the San Felipe assembly. He told of how he grew up in the assembly and tried without success to get out of going to the meetings of the week. Also, how he did not like it that a brother was always asking him if he was saved yet? He went on to say how it bothered him at the time, but now he does something similar himself and is going to continue to do it because the matter of salvation is so important.

He then went on to urge us not to give so much importance to material things such as: work, earnings, health, family and other things that do not have eternal value. His own job hangs by a thread because the economy of Chile is in a down slide and he has to trust the Lord day by day about work. I know that for the last year and a half this has been so. Yet while they have cut hundreds of other engineers, they have not cut his position. The Lord knows what He is doing in his case. He is an excellent gospel preacher and in the three open air meetings in Santa Maria held before the gospel meeting, he had the major responsibility for the preaching.

My next task is to prepare lesson materials, crafts and activities for a week of all-day classes for a group of teens soon to commence. I may have mentioned previously about starting this with Evelyn years ago and of how it has now expanded to include other sisters, who help in different ways.
